Welcome, dear radiant soul.
What if your fatigue is not something to fight? What if it is information?
For many women, exhaustion has become so familiar that we no longer recognize it as a signal from the body. We simply learn how to work around it.
We drink coffee.
We push through.
We stay busy.
We tell ourselves we will rest later. And eventually, we forget what it feels like to have energy that comes naturally.
This is part of what it means to become a well-nourished woman: learning to recognize what your body is communicating before you have to shout over it.
Wired but Tired
There is a particular kind of exhaustion many women know well: wired but tired.
Your body feels depleted, but your mind is still going.
You are tired, but you cannot slow down.
You reach for another cup of coffee because you have things to do, people to care for, and responsibilities waiting for you.
And for a little while, it works. You feel more alert. You get through the afternoon. But eventually, you may find yourself caught in a cycle: You are tired → you stimulate yourself → you push through → your sleep or recovery is affected → you wake tired → you need more stimulation.
The question becomes: What if your body isn't asking for more stimulation? What if it is asking for restoration?
What Is Your Fatigue Trying to Tell You?
Fatigue can show up in more ways than simply feeling sleepy. Perhaps you are experiencing:
• difficulty concentrating or thinking clearly
• irritability or feeling emotionally overwhelmed
• tension in your body
• headaches
• feeling unmotivated or unusually depleted
• reaching for caffeine throughout the day
• difficulty winding down at night despite feeling exhausted
• feeling like you need stimulation just to get through ordinary tasks
These signals do not tell us exactly why we are tired, and persistent or significant fatigue deserves appropriate medical attention. But they can invite us to pause and ask: What does my body need right now?
Food?
Movement?
Fresh air?
Quiet?
Sleep?
Emotional space?
Rest?
This is where the Six Lifestyle Factors of Unani Tibb become so valuable. Rather than looking for one solution, we begin looking at the whole pattern of our lives.
Caffeine: Enjoyment or Compensation?
There is nothing inherently wrong with enjoying coffee or tea.The question is what role is caffeine playing in your life?
Is it something you enjoy? Or has it become something you depend on to override your body's signals? If you need cup after cup simply to make it through the day, your body may be asking for something other than another stimulant. Instead of asking: “How can I get more energy?” Try asking: “How can I restore the energy I already have?”
That shift changes everything.
Three Ways to Restore Your Energy Naturally
1. Move Your Body
Sometimes what feels like a need for caffeine is actually a need to change your environment and move. When that afternoon slump arrives, try:
• Take a 5 to 10 minute walk outside
• Stretch between tasks
• Do a few squats while dinner cooks
• Put on one song and dance with your children
• Walk up and down the stairs
Movement can help you reconnect with your body instead of immediately reaching for another source of stimulation.
2. Step Outside
One of the simplest ways to reconnect with your natural rhythm is to step outside. Take your movement outdoors when you can.
Stretch in the sunshine. Walk around the block. Sit outside without your phone.
Our environment is one of the Six Lifestyle Factors for a reason. Air, light, temperature, and our surroundings all become part of the relationship between our bodies and the world around us.
Sometimes restoration begins with simply changing what surrounds you.
3. Let Rest Be Rest
This may be the hardest one. When you are exhausted, your instinct may be to push harder. But sometimes the most productive thing you can do is stop. Give yourself ten or twenty minutes.
Lie down.
Close your eyes.
Practice slow breathing.
Sit outside.
Do a short guided relaxation.
Or simply be still.
You do not have to fall asleep for it to count.
Rest is not something you earn after everything is finished. Sometimes rest is what allows you to finish.
A Different Relationship With Energy
Becoming a well-nourished woman is not about eliminating every source of stimulation or creating another list of wellness rules. It is about developing a relationship with your body where you can listen before you override.
Maybe you need breakfast before coffee.
Maybe you need water.
Maybe you need movement.
Maybe you need sunlight.
Maybe you need to step away from your responsibilities for ten minutes.
Maybe you need an earlier bedtime.
Or maybe you simply need permission to admit: “I am tired.”
That acknowledgment is not weakness. It is awareness. And awareness is where balance begins.
If This Sounds Like You
So if you find yourself thinking:
“I know I need to make some changes, but I don't know where to start.”
“I'm exhausted from trying to figure this out on my own.”
“My life has changed, and the way I used to care for myself doesn't seem to fit anymore.”
Or perhaps your body has been giving you signals you haven't quite known how to understand:
“Why am I constantly bloated?”
“Why don't my periods feel regular anymore?”
“Why am I waking throughout the night or struggling to fall asleep?”
“Why does my digestion feel off?”
“Why do certain foods leave me feeling uncomfortable or heavy?”
“Why does my body ache more than it used to?”
“I don't feel quite like myself.”
These experiences are easy to dismiss, especially when we're busy caring for everyone and everything else.
But your body's signals are worth paying attention to. You don't have to figure them out alone.
Through my work in Unani Tibb and lifestyle coaching, we look at the whole picture through the lens of the Six Lifestyle Factors of Unani Tibb, including nourishment, sleep, movement, rest, elimination, environment, and mental and emotional wellbeing.
Together, we look for patterns and create practical, personalized ways to support your wellbeing, while considering the season of life you're actually living in. Because what supported you in one season may not be what you need in another. You don't need another generic wellness checklist. You need an approach that considers you.
If you've been noticing changes in your digestion, sleep, menstrual rhythm, energy, aches and pains, or the way you feel in your body, I invite you to schedule a Tibb Naturopathic Consultation with me.
Let's look at where you are, what your life is asking of you, and where you can begin tending to yourself with greater wisdom, intention, and care.
